Borders. Dreams. Humanity.

The same fears that drive a mother to cross a desert with her child are the fears we feel when we worry about paying rent, about keeping our families safe, about making sure our kids have a future.  Those fears are universal. And so is the courage it takes to face them. So i stand here today not just as a teacher assistant, not just as someone who dreams of a better tomorrow, but as someone who believes in the American Dream - not just for me, not just for you, but for everyone who dares to ask

Immigration

1. Why Not Me?

3. Sanctuary Cities as Safe Havens

2. Asylum and Human Rights

Immigration is more than policy—it’s about people, dignity, and opportunity. Why Not Me envisions a system that protects those fleeing hardship, respects those who contribute to our economy, and ensures that America remains a beacon of hope. This movement understands that fair and compassionate immigration reform is essential for the growth and unity of our nation.

2. Asylum and Human Rights

3. Sanctuary Cities as Safe Havens

2. Asylum and Human Rights

We believe in upholding the fundamental right to asylum. Protecting those who flee violence, persecution, and poverty must remain a cornerstone of our values. The process should be fair, humane, and efficient, ensuring that vulnerable individuals receive the protection they need without unnecessary delays or dehumanization.

3. Sanctuary Cities as Safe Havens

Sanctuary cities are crucial in fostering trust and collaboration between immigrant communities and local law enforcement. They prioritize safety and compassion, ensuring that victims of crime can seek justice without fear of deportation, which enhances the well-being of the entire community.

4. Targeting Violent Offenders

6. Streamlined Immigration Processing

3. Sanctuary Cities as Safe Havens

We support policies that prioritize public safety by removing violent offenders and those who pose legitimate threats. At the same time, enforcement must be transparent and fair, avoiding undue harm to immigrant families and communities who contribute positively to society.

5. Protections for Dreamers

6. Streamlined Immigration Processing

6. Streamlined Immigration Processing

Dreamers are as much a part of America as anyone else. They’ve grown up in and contributed to our communities. We support expanding DACA and creating a clear, achievable pathway to citizenship, giving these individuals the security and recognition they deserve.

The current system is inefficient and backlogged. We advocate for modernizing immigration processes, increasing funding for courts, and reducing unnecessary barriers to ensure fair and timely outcomes for everyone navigating the system.

7. Pathway to Citizenship

9. Economic Realities and Shared Humanity

8. Border Security with Humanity

Millions of undocumented immigrants contribute to our economy and communities every day. We support creating a fair and accountable pathway to citizenship for these individuals, recognizing their integral role in our nation while respecting the rule of law.

8. Border Security with Humanity

8. Border Security with Humanity

We recognize the importance of border security, but it must be implemented with humanity. Modernizing border infrastructure, prioritizing safety, and avoiding inhumane practices like family separation are vital to building a fair and secure system.

9. Economic Realities and Shared Humanity

Immigrants are the backbone of many industries, fueling our economy and enriching our communities. We believe that immigration reform must reflect the shared hopes and struggles of all people, fostering understanding and unity while providing dignity and opportunity to those seeking a better life.

Why Not Me?

The Hard Truths We Can't ignore

Building Pathways not walls

believes immigration reform isn’t just about policies, it’s about people. Families seeking safety. Workers striving for a better life. Children growing up in a country they call home, yet still living in the shadows. A nation that turns its back on immigrants forgets its own story. America was built by those who dared to believe in more – immigrants are not strangers to our values, they are proof of them.

Building Pathways not walls

The Hard Truths We Can't ignore

Building Pathways not walls

Why Not Me? envisions a future where:

  • Family separations at the border become a stain of the past.
  • Dreamers receive permanent protections and a clear path to citizenship.
  • Asylum seekers are treated with dignity, not detention.
  • Work visas are expanded, recognizing the value immigrants add to our economy and communities.
  • No one is forced to live in fear of deportation for simply wanting a better life.

The Hard Truths We Can't ignore

A New vision forimmigration reform

  •  Over 11 million undocumented people contribute to the U.S., yet live without rights or recognition.
  • Thousands of families face separation each year, tearing apart the fabric of communities.
  • Dreamers – who know no home but this one – risk deportation due to political gridlock.
  • Detention centers overflow, criminalizing those seeking asylum.
  • Immigrants pay billions in taxes annually but are denied basic benefits.

We see the cost of division. But we also see the power of standing together.

Why Not Me? imagines a system built on fairness and humanity:

Citizenship pathways for long-term undocumented residents.

  • Legal representation guaranteed in immigration courts.
  • An end to for-profit detention centers that profit from suffering.
  • Protections for mixed-status families, keeping loved ones together.
  • Expanded refugee programs for those fleeing war, climate disaster, and persecution.
  • Recognition of immigrant labor, ensuring workers receive fair wages and legal protections.

A just immigration system doesn’t tear down – it builds up.

Welcome to Why Not Me?

For too long,  we've been told to wait, accept low wages, skyrocketing costs, and leaders who work for billionaires instead of us. Why Not Me? is here to change that.

The Republican Party has rigged the system for the wealthy while distracting us with fear and division. And too often, Democrats have failed to fight back. We demand a party that stands with working people, not corporations, not the ultra rich, not political insiders.

This is about power. Our power. The power to lead, to demand better, to build a future where workers come first.

Why Not Me? Why not us? Why not now?
