Homes build futures

It’s about ensuring that little girl in my story never has to experience the fear of homelessness. It’s about making sure her mother has a fighting chance to give her children a better life. It’s about ensuring every family has the dignity of a stable home.

We need policies that preserve the affordable housing we have and build more of it. We need to protect tenants from unjust evictions and predatory practices. We need to prioritize housing as a human right, not a luxury for the few.

Affordable Housing

Why Not Me?

1. Increase Affordable Housing Availability

1. Increase Affordable Housing Availability

is dedicated to creating real, lasting solutions for affordable housing, built on the belief that access to safe and stable housing is a fundamental right, not a privilege. We believe that housing is a foundation for opportunity, health, and security—and no one should be forced to choose between a roof over their head and other basic needs.

1. Increase Affordable Housing Availability

We support initiatives to increase the supply of affordable housing through incentives for developers to build more low- and middle-income housing units. By partnering with communities and offering tax credits or subsidies, we can encourage the development of affordable housing in a way that benefits residents without displacing them.

2. Preserve Existing Affordable Housing

1. Increase Affordable Housing Availability

3. Support Rent Control and Tenant Protections

Protecting the affordable housing we already have is crucial. This means preventing predatory buying practices that lead to rent hikes or displacement and enforcing rent controls or tenant protections that help families stay in their homes. Preservation is a cost-effective approach that keeps communities intact and stable.

3. Support Rent Control and Tenant Protections

Implementing and supporting rent control policies can help protect tenants from sudden rent spikes and housing instability. Strong tenant protections, like anti-eviction laws, ensure that renters have the security they need to plan for the future and invest in their communities.

4. Expand Housing Assistance Programs

3. Support Rent Control and Tenant Protections

5. Invest in Community-Based Housing Solutions

We advocate for expanding federal, state, and local housing assistance programs to cover more people in need. By broadening eligibility and reducing waitlists, we can help ensure that low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities have access to the support they need to stay housed.

5. Invest in Community-Based Housing Solutions

Affordable housing should reflect the needs of the communities it serves. We support community-based housing projects, including cooperatives, land trusts, and nonprofit housing organizations, which put control in the hands of residents and keep housing affordable in the long term.

6. Tackle Homelessness at the Root.

8. Promote Zoning Reforms for Inclusive Housing

7. Address Barriers to Homeownership

Addressing homelessness requires more than temporary shelter solutions. We advocate for “Housing First” policies that prioritize getting people into permanent, supportive housing before addressing other needs. This approach has been proven to reduce homelessness and is more cost-effective than emergency interventions. you offer. Also, be sure to showcase a premium service.

7. Address Barriers to Homeownership

Homeownership is a pathway to stability and financial security, yet it remains out of reach for many. We support policies that offer down-payment assistance, credit counseling, and first-time homebuyer programs, particularly in communities of color, to expand access to homeownership and build generational wealth.

8. Promote Zoning Reforms for Inclusive Housing

Outdated zoning laws often restrict affordable housing development, leading to segregated neighborhoods and limited options for working families. We support zoning reforms that allow for mixed-income housing and greater flexibility in building affordable housing units. By encouraging inclusive zoning, we can create more diverse, vibrant communities where everyone has the opportunity to live and thrive.

the high cost - Affordable housing

Why Not Me?

believes housing is more than just shelter, its a foundation for opportunity. Affordable housing shouldn't be a lottery ticket, but a right for every family. We stand for policies that keep people in their homes and create new paths to ownership and stability.

Affordable housing feels further out of reach everyday. Rent rises faster than paychecks, forcing impossible choices:

  • Pay rent or buy groceries.
  • Take a second job or risk eviction.

For many, this reality, living paycheck, one unexpected bill away from losing their home. That's not just expensive, it's exhausting. The system shouldn't punish survival, but for too many it feels like it does.

The Hard Truths We Can't ignore

A New vision for Housing Security

  • Half of renters spend more than 30% of their income on housing.
  • Evictions have risen by 11+% displacing families and uprooting communities.
  • Affordable housing waitlists can take years, if you even make it on this list.

We see the costs of doing nothing. But we know the power of doing something, together.

  • Rent control ensures families aren't priced out overnight.
  • Public housing investments meet rising demand.
  • Pathways to homeownership are expanded for working-class families.
  • Landlords are held accountable for fair practices

A safe, stable home isn't a privilege, it's the starting point for everything else

Welcome to Why Not Me?

For too long,  we've been told to wait, accept low wages, skyrocketing costs, and leaders who work for billionaires instead of us. Why Not Me? is here to change that.

The Republican Party has rigged the system for the wealthy while distracting us with fear and division. And too often, Democrats have failed to fight back. We demand a party that stands with working people, not corporations, not the ultra rich, not political insiders.

This is about power. Our power. The power to lead, to demand better, to build a future where workers come first.

Why Not Me? Why not us? Why not now?
